Lipspeaking in Police settings
This workshop will give lipspeakers the space to explore the difficult and often complex domain of lipspeaking within a Police setting.
The workshop will take place on-site within an operational police station. We will have the opportunity to tour various parts of the building such as the cells, custody suits, interview rooms, front desk etc.
Byron Campbell (FASLI) renown and much seasoned BSL/English interpreter along with a serving police officer will take us through the procedures of how ‘visitors’ are booked in, interviewed etc. As well as exploring our role as the lipspeaker within the dynamics of these strenuous relationships and processes.
We have been informed that due to limited space, numbers will be restricted this time round to only 15 places (18 at a push). Therefore, we would suggest that any member who is interested in taking part in the workshop contact the secretary Dilys Palin as soon as possible please.
More details are to follow…
Please note that fully qualified lipspeakers will be offered places first.
