Lipspeakers at Chorley REACH Event

Laura Bradbury and Lesley Hind took time out of their busy lipspeaking schedules to promote the Association of Lipspeakers (ALS) at the REACH event in Chorley, and were fortunate to have a visit from the Mayor!

Laura writes:

The Reach event held in Chorley, Lancashire was supported by Chorley Council and South Ribble Council. Reach is a disability awareness event. On the day there was about 30 stalls giving free advice and information along with promoting their services.

Our Lipspeaking stall was popular throughout the day as many people showed interest in our service and  many leaflets were handed out and taken away.

We had numerous enquiries from ‘What is lipspeaking?’ right to ‘How do I become a lipspeaker?’

We also met with the Mayor of Chorley who showed a great interest to learn of such a service.

Luckily the weather was kind and kept the crowds flowing all day. So the event  was a very successful day all round for the ALS!!

Waiting for the crowds to arrive!
